SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED :

SEASON 2 EPISODE 3 –  THE NIGHT THE CLOWN CRIED PART II – TEARS OF DOOM

[Animation, Adventure, Comedy] 

This is another episode that heavily features Marcy aka “Hot Dog Water”. Hot Dog Water has teamed up with Mystery Inc. kind of taking Daphne’s place while she figures things out? We also get a heavy dose of Angel Dynamite aka Kassidy Williams voiced by Vivica A. Fox probably is best known for her role in INDEPENDENCE DAY). Fred is still dealing with Daphne’s absence and that crying baby man from Episode 1 has returned to terrorize the town. Can Hot Dog Water, Velma, Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby figure out who the crying baby man is before the whole town is laid to ruin? Meanwhile, Daphne’s new boyfriend is plotting to jet her out of town as soon as possible. 

Villain wise we are dealing with one of the worst in the series again, so I can’t really say I liked this aspect of the episode. What is definitely better than the first one is the artwork. They use a lot of cool backgrounds and there is a good bit of artwork shown off during an airport scene. 

This episode kind of fixes the first episode, but should have definitely been combined with it rather than separated, but I guess they were trying to get Hot Dog Water in more episodes at that time. Hot Dog Water is actually one of the better characters in the Scooby-Doo universe. 

One thing I thought was pretty great, and different about this episode is that it’s one of the very few episodes where Fred straight up punches the villain at one point. In almost every other case in this series, he’s using a trap of some sort.
 

Fact – Angel Dynamite is Kassidy Williams DJ name. She rocked Crystal Cove at K-GHOUL in Season 1. 

Second Fact –  For 3 episodes now, Shaggy still has his mom convinced he’s a general in the army.

Third Fact – Fred knows how to fly a commercial airliner. He must really love solving mysteries because otherwise, he could just be doing that.  

Oddity –  Fred literally kidnaps Daphne to the beach along with her entire bed. She kind of blows it off, but man….it’s not a shocker Fred is getting therapy in this episode. Daphne is also tagged with a tracking device just under her skin by someone outside the gang. 

Best Line – And I would have been the world’s greatest Hollywood thespian if it hadn’t have been for you small town scene stealers. – Baylor Hotner

Overall I have to give this one a 4 out of 7. It is a vast improvement over the first part of this storyline.
