SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 2 EPISODE 4 – WEB OF THE DREAMWEAVER!

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED :

SEASON 2 EPISODE 4 –  WEB OF THE DREAMWEAVER!

[Animation, Adventure, Comedy]

This episode sees the return of Daphne to the gang and Hot Dog Water gets asked to leave after a vote. Meanwhile, something is causing the residence of Crystal Cove to destroy the things they love the most. That mysterious figure becomes known as the “Dreamweaver”.

This is the first episode of Season 2 where Scooby-Doo and the gang are back together. Daphne isn’t ready to work things out with Fred just yet, but they are calling themselves friends for now. Art wise this one is pretty strong, it’s also got some pretty fun design work for the villain and an interesting storyline. Because of Daphne’s return, Hot Dog Water is not in this episode for more than a few minutes. For me, this was a bit of a downer because I really liked her as part of the team and wouldn’t have minded seeing the 6 of them solve mysteries for 5 to 10 episodes. This one also has a cool nod to both D&D and LORD OF THE RINGS and even slightly from INCEPTION.

Fact – Shaggy once got massively engrossed with a D&D-type game called “Crypt’s & Creatures”.

Second Fact –  Sheriff Stone also played “Crypt’s & Creatures” when he was growing up.

Oddity –  This might be the loftiest of the villain plots in Mystery Incorporated. I won’t say how the villain does it, but man on man it’s pretty out there.

Best Line – And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for you…you roll playing nerds!

Overall I have to give this one a 4 out of 7. I liked the overall idea even if the method the villain used to create mayhem was over the top even for this show.
