SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 2 EPISODE 5 – THE HODAG OF HORROR

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED :

SEASON 2 EPISODE 5 –  THE HODAG OF HORROR

[Animation, Adventure, Comedy]

In this one, a dude pulls into town with a “Curio wagon” called the “Traveling Cabinet Of Curiosities” which is full of oddities. The biggest attraction is a fake-looking monster known as a Hodag. In the middle of the night, it comes to life and terrorizes Daphne’s sister. As the gang starts to investigate more appearances occur and the town is now facing the wrath of this mysterious creature.

Sheriff Stone unlike in Season 1 seems to no longer be as “excited” about the town getting terrorized as he was in Season 1. He throws the first suspect they run into jail, but seemingly because he wants to confiscate the contents of the “Traveling Cabinet Of Curiosities”.

The artwork in this episode is pretty strong a lot like the last episode. The plotline for this episode is pretty great, but the mystery is wrapped up a bit too soon. I will say at least the villain was one of the least suspected characters in the episode which is always pretty rad. There is a subtle but obvious nod to LADY AND THE TRAMP in this but the storyline didn’t really need it.

Fact – When using the walkie-talkie in this episode, Daphne calls herself “smoking hottie”. Fred is “Scarf Boy”.

Second Fact – The “Curio wagon” arrives in town for a seemingly bizarre reason unless you have watched Season 1.

Best Line – A horrible creature almost annihilated you, how wonderful! – Daphne

Second Best Line – I did, the little evil bird in the tree branch. - Professor Pericles

Overall this is a solid episode with a resolution that feels just a bit too quick. I give this one a 5 out of 7.
