SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 2 EPISODE 13 – WRATH OF THE KRAMPUS

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED :

SEASON 2 EPISODE 13 –  WRATH OF THE KRAMPUS

[Animation, Adventure, Comedy]

In this one, an evil goat man who mostly wants peace and quiet and for kids to respect their elders is terrorizing Crystal Cove by turning kids into old people. Just like your local HOA. Meanwhile, the original Mystery Incorporated is trying to steal pieces of the Planispheric Disc from Scooby and the gang.

I love that this episode gives nods to the villains from the original Scooby-Doo series, and specifically mentions “Charlie The Haunted Robot” who has a tie to this episode's mystery. We even get a scene showing a lot of the villains from Season 1 and possibly 2 of this incarnation of the show (I didn’t get a great look at all of them, but you get the idea). Krampus is also given a really cool design making this another fun villain in this season. Mr. E’s version of Mystery Incorporated is heavily featured in this episode along with their spin on the Mystery Machine. Theirs is called the “The Enigma Engine”.

Just a heads up if you are sensitive to creepy old dolls, this episode might not be for you. It’s nightmare fuel on level 8 for those people. Art wise this episode is pretty solid. We get a lot of solid backgrounds and some really awesome artwork near the end of the episode. This one also has one of the greatest twists in any MYSTERY INCORPORATED episode ever. It’s completely fantastic.

Fact – Shaggy has a 10-second nose rule. That allows him to eat any food that has been in his nose, but not for longer than 10 seconds.

Second Fact – Mayor Nettles is a better shot than Sheriff Bronson Stone.

Oddity –  There is a haunted orphanage in Crystal Cove that doesn’t seem to be part of any of the tourist attractions. Fred knew exactly where it was by Daphne didn’t, so it’s likely she heard about it, but it doesn’t seem to be one of the town's hot spots and either does the even creepier abandoned doll factory across the street.

Best Line – You call yourselves investigators, everyone knows that arcades and roller discos are breeding grounds for criminal children, these places are basically coin-operated prisons. – Sheriff Stone.

Overall this episode gets a 6 out of 7. I loved the twist at the end and we got a pretty great story. I will say some younger kids might be freaked out by this one, so keep that in mind.
