SEASON 2 EPISODE 12 – SCAREBEAR

In this episode, a company called Destroido owns land on which a scarebear is terrorizing campers and anyone it comes across. Because the company is mining lithium there, they don’t even let the local authorities have jurisdiction there. So of course…Scooby and the gang are on the case. Who is behind the scarebear and why is it suddenly chasing off campers?

This episode features another really awesome looking villain. The scarebear is menacing and well-drawn. It also appears that almost everyone remembers how to pronounce George Avocados’s last name from Season 1. It’s pronounced “Avoc-add-dose”, rather than “avəˈkädōs”. It also features a really epic plotline and one of the better (even empathetic) motives we’ve seen this season. This is the second really good look we get at the land that Destroido owns. The first time this area came up was in Season 1 Episode 13.

Fact – Fred’s parents were part of the original Mystery Inc. They have a Mystery Machine type van called The Enigma Engine.

Second Fact – Scooby is strong enough to carry a full-sized ax in his mouth.

Best Line – Remember when we used to stare at the moon until our corneas were burned…what did those doctors call it? – Fred

Second Best Line – Umm, is that normal avocado behavior? – Velma

Third Best Line – And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for you meddling mutant animal-hating kids.

I love this freakin thing. For me, this was the best episode of the season thus far. It had a bit of everything pushing the main overall mystery arc forward and featuring some fantastic art. I give this one a solid 7 out of 7.
