A LITTLE BIT ZOMBIE (2012)

A LITTLE BIT ZOMBIE (2012)

Hey, man, did you order the Vegetarian Nightmare? Extra Polish sausage, German sausage, Belgian Sausage, Russian sausage...

With WARM BODIES and ZOMBIELAND out there, you don’t have to search far for zombie comedy/love story stuff, but A LITTLE BIT ZOMBIE tops both in the “comedy” department. Some of the humor is nicely hidden in the dialog rather than being situational, but there is plenty of that as well. One of my favorite lines in the movie was a pizza being named “vegetarian nightmare”, which I have used to order pizza multiple times now (in reference to “meatlovers pizza’s”).

In the movie a young couple is set to get married when the husband realizes he is now becoming a zombie after being infected by a mosquito (which had recently bitten a zombie). The entire cast delivers near perfect performances and it really is a shame this movie wasn’t a bigger hit. Much like TUCKER & DALE VS EVIL this movie has some rolling on the floor humor, but not as much blood or guts.

Much like vampire films, zombie films have started to catch on in the mainstream and show NO signs of slowing down. A LITTLE BIT ZOMBIE is a refreshing and delivers on every attempt to change things up. Crystal love (SMALLVILLE, FINAL DESTINATION 5) does a fine job in her role which given the circumstances had to be almost impossible from an intellectual standpoint, but Emilie Ullerup (SANCTUARY) steals the show in the few scenes they do give her.

If there was a list of movies that turned out to be great that you were expecting not to be, this would probably end up in my Top 20.

I give this film a 5 out of 7.
