JASON LIVES: FRIDAY
THE 13TH PART VI (1986)
Tagline: The Nightmare Returns. This Summer.
(Horror, Thriller, Ch Ch Ch, Ha Ha Ha) [R]
Some folks sure got a strange idea of entertainment.
Okay, so fans went a little nuts after PART V came out and
the producers of FRIDAY THE 13TH decided to get back to business
with the original storyline. We get an older (like older than in the previous movies) Tommy Jarvis who just can’t fully
believe Jason is completely down for the count. So he and a friend dig the body
up and after a freak accident Jason is back (a lot like KING KONG in KING KONG VS GODZILLA after GODZILLA already jack-stomped him once) and he racks up what
would be his largest body count of all the films until JASON X.
Okay, let me
just start off by saying I loved this thing for a number of reasons. We get
back to the camp where it all started, we get camp counselors running for their
lives and cops that just don’t believe Tommy no matter how much he and Alice
Copper tell them “He’s back..he’s the man behind the mask”. Not only did this
thing have a fantastic soundtrack it also had by a long shot the best
cinematography in the entire series. Don’t believe me --- watch the shot where
the wind blows the leaves into the cabin where all the girls are sleeping. It’s
freaking great. This is also the only movie in the entire series that has actual camp kids and not just the counselors.
Anyway, we also get introduced to a little FRIDAY THE 13TH card game and lots of outstanding actors and actresses namely Renee Jones (as Sissy) and horror icon at the time Thom Mathews (RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD and oddly RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD II). We also get a decent but not amazing performance from Jennifer Cooke (as Megan) who was in the original V tv series.

If I had to recommend one film in the
entire series this would be it. I give this one a 7 out of 7. Yes, don’t try
and talk me out of it.
