CHILD’S PLAY 3 (1991)
Almost a decade after
the events in CHILD’S PLAY 2 Andy is grown up and has joined a military school
actually a lot better adjusted than I’d anticipated (granted, not “well”
adjusted, just better than expected). Chucky is back after his parts are melted
down and wind up in the mix that the Good Guys toy makers are re-introducing
the line with. Chucky is looking for Andy once again but comes across a younger
kid that he feels might be just as suitable to transfer his soul into.
The intro to this one is
the best (and most creepy) in the series in my opinion but also the most
farfetched. There are some aspects of this installment that are pretty
successful and the final scene is pretty great, but overall you can feel it is
the beginning of the decent into “we are running out of idea’s” ville for this
franchise. Trying to stay on budget this one doesn’t really deliver in the star
department and took in just over its budget. Oddly it is also the only movie in
this whole series I actually saw at the theater.
This entire series just
came out on BLU-RAY or DVD which includes 2013’s CURSE OF CHUCKY, and CULT OF CHUCKY but other than that,
finding CHILD’S PLAY 3 is not going to be all that easy unless you are in love
with AMAZON on demand and want to pay $2.99 just to stream it. For some odd
reason NETFLIX doesn’t have it and it’s too old for REDBOX apparently.
Overall this movie works
better in the series than others.
