SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED: SEASON 1 EPISODE 21 – MENACE OF THE MANTICORE

Creepy Spooky Terrorland is being terrorized by a creature called the “Manticore” and the gang is being tasked with the job of stopping it, by none other than Fred’s dad.

This episode is loaded with cool stuff including Terrorland itself, but also a rad temple and a really cool creature in the Manticore itself. The motives for the villain in this one are just so so and their plot even more so so, but it’s not completely out of left field for this season.

This is the first episode where we find out there is a connection between Angel Dynamite, and Mr. E, a mysterious figure who has been helping the gang solve some of their cases during the season.

Cool – Hotdog Water makes an appearance in this episode. We find out that she is a rival of Velma’s at the school science fair. She almost single-handedly makes this episode for me, because it finally gives Velma a rival her age.

Overall this episode lacks some of the great one-liners and comedy elements of some of the other episodes, but the open and closing scenes are a nice setup of what’s to come.

Due to some missing elements, I am going to give this one a 6 out of 7. It’s definitely a can’t miss episode if you want to follow the greater story arc mystery.
