SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 2 EPISODE 9 – GRIM JUDGEMENT

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED :

SEASON 2 EPISODE 9 –  GRIM JUDGEMENT

[Animation, Adventure, Comedy]

In this one, a villain named Hebediah Grim is going around judging people while the gang’s classmates from the soccer team seem to always be at the right place at the right time to save the day…sort of. Meanwhile, Mayor Nettle’s has started dating Sheriff Stone (voiced by Patrick Warburton). I am not sure why they care what anyone thinks, but it is what it is. Can Scooby and the gang solve the mystery of Hebediah Grim before judgment befalls everyone who isn’t deemed “pretty or wholesome”?

Unfortunately, this one is a bit of a letdown in the villain design department. Grim looks pretty plain and reminds me a lot of a Dead Justice-type character but Dead Justice had a much better design. Story-wise it’s also a little rough, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a lot of fun. The plot and goal of the villain in this story are pretty sensible given who it is.

Fact – This episode gives homage to the TV show “Hart To Hart” and “90210”. The “Hart To Hart” thing must have been some sort of a favor to someone who worked on that show because it’s not a show even that most people watching would even remember.

Best Line – Velma, you’re scaring me – Scooby-Doo

This episode for me falls in about the center of the first 9 quality-wise. It’s not going to blow anyone away, it’s a little forgettable, but I actually like that at this point in the season they are bringing things back to the basics. This show has always had brilliant writing but episodes like this contain the essentials that I fell in love with this series for. I give it a 4 out of 7.
