SEASON 2 EPISODE 8 –  NIGHT ON HAUNTED MOUNTAIN

In this one, the gang is drawn to a mystery at Mount Diabla. This was sparked by an attack on two of their classmates that they know are jerks, but probably don’t know much about, mainly because Shaggy, Fred, Velma, and Daphne are basically never at school. Once they are in the area they discover the attack was made by a figure the locals are calling “The Dark Lilith”. One of the locals “Ugly Jimmy” decides to assist the gang in their attempt to solve the mystery, but will this poetic new villain be the end of Scooby and the gang?

This episode is loaded with cool. The revelation of the villain is slightly disappointing but the Dark Lilith has one of the better villain outfits in the series. We do get a one-off mystery in this episode but it is almost completely dedicated to moving the overall story arc forward. 

Animation and story-wise this one is pretty top-notch. I really liked the pacing and getting into a bit of a different setting was kind of cool. 

Fact – There are apparently cactus somewhere near Crystal Cove because there are cactus all over this freakin mountain they are at. 

Second Fact – Velma can speak and read Spanish. 

Oddity – In this area near the mountain the group of locals they run into all look just about as crazy as the ghoul from the last episode. 

Even though I wasn’t crazy about the villain reveal, this was a solid episode and I have to give it a 5 out of 7.
