SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 1 EPISODE 18 – DRAGON’S SECRET

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED: SEASON 1 EPISODE 18 – DRAGON’S SECRET

After an exchange student named Mai  Lee shows up in town to stay with Velma, strange flying red and white Kung Fu wizards begin attacking the town trying to get a ring she stole.  It’s seriously one of the best premises for a Scooby-Doo episode ever. Like a cross between GREMLINS and BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA.

In this one, Daphne and Fred are getting along okay, but Shaggy appears to have moved on from Velma taking an interest in Mai Lee. He’s even trying to figure out how to speak Chinese. Fred gets introduced to Daphne’s parents, but it’s like total freakin chaos. This episode also features one of the few times Scooby Sacks are even mentioned in this series. Then again it’s also got Velma and Daphne flying through the air with swords…so there you have it.

This episode features Chen (voiced by James Hong) which is also one of my favorite characters but is extremely under-utilized in this series.

This one has an excellent but pretty fast-paced storyline because they are trying to fit in a lot here. Shaggy ends up getting kind of screwed over, so getting into that a bit after the mystery is solved meant there was less time for the main story.

Best Line – “Why do you have a Geisha tied up in here, you know they belong downtown in Crystal Cove’s Geisha House Of Terror.” – Mayor Fred Rodgers.

Second Best Line - “I hope no one realizes the window is gone and steals my jade dragon, oh well” – Chen

Third Best Line – “He's too good for you, dog issues or no dog issues” – Velma
