SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 1 EPISODE 19 – NIGHTFRIGHT

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED: SEASON 1 EPISODE 19 – NIGHTFRIGHT

After being just one of 2 entries in a contest to meet Vincent van Ghoul, he personally invites Shaggy and Scooby-Doo to his house for a TV reality show at his mansion. Only they end up getting stalked by a demon known as “Nightfright”. He like, really wants you to know this too because he says it like 90 times in the episode. Because Shaggy and Scooby are the only ones invited, they end up calling on Mystery Incorporated (the gang) to solve the mystery.

The plot in this episode is pretty amazing and it’s a bit of a ghoulish confidence booster for anyone facing their fears. The motive also makes sense for the villain, so much so that his plan actually works, he accomplishes his goal.

This has to be one of my favorites in a season loaded with some of the best Scooby-Doo episodes ever made. It’s also one of the few episodes that primarily focuses on Shaggy and Scooby rather than the prowess of the gang as a whole.

Cool – The Bloody Stake is briefly shown in this episode. It’s a vampire-themed restaurant in Crystal Cove. Remember Fred sucks at dating, so clearly, he didn’t get a reservation for him and Daphne in this episode. Geez, dude..you always have to get a reservation at The Bloody Stake. There is also a nod to Wayne's World in this episode.

Fact – Vincent Van Ghoul is voiced by Maurice LaMarche. LaMarche voices the role perfectly, but he is also known for voicing The Brain, from Pinky and The Brain among a host of other roles. The character is a nod to Vincent Price.

Best Line - “This place is sealed tighter than a red nose on a fat clown” – One of Vincent Van Ghoul’s aides.
