SEASON 1 EPISODE 6 – THE LEGEND OF ALICE MAY

In this one, Fred gets won over by a new student Alice May, and she ends up inviting him to the prom. Daphne investigates and finds out that Alice May, may be a mysterious creepy ghost girl who is literally stealing dudes for some purpose after inviting them out on dates.

Let me just say, this episode is freakin fantastic.

We get the introduction of Vincent Van Ghoul, a movie star modeled after Vincent Price that hunts monsters. In this episode Shaggy and Scooby are watching a Van Ghoul marathon which causes friction between Velma and Shaggy because he’d really rather not go to the prom with her. Another cool thing about this episode is finding out who Alice May is related to. It has something to do with episodes outside of this series. It also pushes Fred and Daphne’s friendship along which becomes more and more vital to the overall series.

This one also ties into the overall arc mystery that encompasses the whole series. We are introduced to the fact that there was a group prior to the current Scooby gang once that all disappeared. The name of that group was…. (trying not to spoil this if you haven’t seen the show).

The only negative in this one is Scooby’s odd jealousy of Velma and Shaggy, but when I see my dog has the same issue with me and Jenn, I guess it’s not that far-fetched. Daphne is a lot smarter in this episode than she’s been all season long. Having said that she's a lot smarter in general than she has been in previous incarnations of the show.

Best Line – “So Alice was using the shower and hanging out in the school basement at night. Haven’t we all?” – Fred

Second Best Line – “Like if that was Alice May, she needs some serious moisturizer” – Shaggy

Third Best Line – “Somebody’s mom is trying to kill Fred” – Two random kids running out of the prom.
