SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 1 EPISODE 5 – A SONG OF MYSTERY

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED :
SEASON 1 EPISODE 5 – A SONG OF MYSTERY

A creature named QUE HORRIFICO is turning the children of Crystal Cove in to little creepy monsters. The adults in the town are in freak out and just decide to leave town. No, you read that right. They just take off and leave their creepy monster kids behind.

In this one Velma is now trying to get Shaggy to wear nicer pants and stop saying “like” all the time.
At this point it’s kind of questionable as to if she should even be dating him, since she’s tried to change at least 3 things about him. This is one episode however where Shaggy does stick up for himself and ends up just doing Shaggy things anyway. There are also a lot of great one liners and the professor in the story is pretty rad.

The plot in this one comes with a cool backstory behind QUE HORRIFICO making it one of the more awesome early episodes. Even the motive for this one seems pretty much like a nod to the old horror film THE VILLIAGE OF THE DAMNED . I think this lead to star ratings for this episode to be higher than any of the preceding episodes to this point.

This story is not connected to the greater overall arc mystery but they do once again mention the towns financial woes and efforts to try and seek an authentic spooky monster to attract tourists.

Overall this was a pretty solid episode and gets a 6 out of 7 from me.

Best Line: “Yes, The END” – Velma (After Scooby asks her to read him a story).

Second Best Line: “What in the name of whole wheat toast is going on?” – Mayor Fred Jones.
