SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 1 EPISODE 23 – A HAUNTING IN CRYSTAL COVE

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED: SEASON 1 EPISODE 22 – A HAUNTING IN CRYSTAL COVE

Mayor Fred Jones is under attack by a shadowy figure at his house, and the only ones who can save him are Scooby and the gang as per freakin usual. Fred ends up hiring a Voodoo Goddess named Lady Marmalade to help get rid of the shadowy figure because they think it’s a ghost.

This is the first time in the series we are introduced to Lady Marmalade and as it turns out she is almost useless in this thing. We find out Fred has named the stuffed moose head in his dad's house “Tyler”. He also contemplates quitting doing mystery-solving ever again if he can’t solve this case. In this one, we find out that Fred doesn’t only have traps all over everyone else’s houses, but that he’s got a ton of traps in his dad’s house.

The villain in this one has the power to animate pizza and make Shaggy and Scooby re-think ever eating again. He also animates several other things including a bear rug. So the overall feel is that Mayor Fred Jones house is more haunted than just being menaced by one of the usual villains. This is also the first time we hear the term “Planispheric Disc”. It references several pieces of treasure that come together to form a circular map from like forever ago.

Oddity – Scobby sees a picture of Fred’s mom and says she’s “hot”. Seems a bit strange even for Scooby. This is also a rare episode where the villain gets away.

Best Line - “Fred should have come up with a more secure password than “Trapping Guy” – Professor Pericles.
