WE ARE THE NIGHT (2011)
At first glance this
thing comes across as a cheesy b-movie thrown in the $5.00 DVD bin at Wal-mart.
The kind of movie you’d walk by but still maybe later throw in your NetFlix
queue. Go ahead, do that now, I will wait. Okay all set. Then you get about 2
seconds in and you are like “holy freakin awesome”. Or at least that is what
this movie lover thought. WE ARE THE NIGHT is not just another run of the mill
vampire movie and it is just loaded with the same kinds of edgy perfection we saw
in INNOCENT BLOOD.
I don’t think there is
really 1 thing I didn’t like about this movie and that includes the fact that I
didn’t know of and have never seen anyone in this. WE ARE THE NIGHT is a superb
vampire film, seriously the best film in its genre in years. A couple things to
watch for, as I mentioned the opening sequence. Holy cow, we just don’t get
this kinda creep-tastic-ness often in this type of flick. The action sequences
are outstanding which come fast and furious especially in the 2nd
half of the movie.
These girls will kill you
River style and not even think twice about it. Well not quite. They do think
about it, in fact that think about it a lot which just ads layers and layers of
depth emotionally and philosophically to this puppy. Can’t really say enough
here, we talk about those diamonds in the rough all the time and this is one of
those. The package says this thing is likely loaded with eye candy and there is
some, but overall if you really watch this and hate it, you are more than
welcome to trash the review all over Facebook (how about them apples).
