SCOOBY DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED : SEASON 1 EPISODE 2 – THE CREEPING CREATURES (2010)

SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED :
SEASON 1 EPISODE 2 – THE CREEPING CREATURES

In episode 2 Mystery Inc gets a message from Mr. E introduced (sort of) at the end of episode 1. He is pretty intimidating in Episode 1 but sounds a bit like Charlie from CHARLIE’S ANGELS (not the newer one, the tv show). This ties into the arc story, but has the crew headed to Gatorsburg which I can only assume is close to Crystal Cove due to the fact that Sheriff Stone shows up later in the episode and has bought stuff from the area (once famous for its gator population and having everything made out of gator).

Much like the rest of the series this one has basically what is a “cold opening” featuring a spin on National Lampoons Griswalds, where we get a little glimpse of the terror to come. Keep in mind…this is Scooby-Doo bloodless cheese terror not SAW terror.

In any regards just watching this show for the genius thrown in makes it worthwhile, but I am not overly excited about this episode in general. I think mostly due to the choice of villain and some of the creepy accents used it just kind of threw me for a loop, having said that we do get more of Velma and Shaggy hiding their relationship and Daphne practically throwing “I love you” bombs at Fred.

Fact - Scooby-Doo clearly does not see himself as a "pet" in this series.

Among some other odd things about this episode is Mr. E’s tone. In the first episode he comes across as almost villain-like, but in this one seems to be more helpful. It seems like it's possible that at this point in the series they just wanted an arc story but hadn’t quite decided what direction to take it in.

I give this episode a 4 out of 7.
