SEASON 1 EPISODE 1 – BEWARE THE BEAST FROM BELOW
Okay
so at some point, I decided if you are going to spend your 20 minutes watching
an episode, I am going to take the time to give it to you straight regarding
the review. The bottom line for this entire series (at least what I have seen
so far) is that this incarnation of Scooby and the gang is by FAR the best ever
produced. Starting in this episode the storyline is already investigating the “how
would this really go down” relationship scenarios
within the group.
So
we have several things we haven’t seen before. 1) Crystal Cove is now the
launching pad so to speak for the gang. At least so far they don’t seem to be
traveling all over the globe with a seemingly endless bank account. 2) Velma
and Shaggy are IN a relationship. Right now no one else knows, but they are in
one. 3) Daphne is openly in love with Fred. However, in this series, he is having
a hard time getting that because he is overly obsessed with traps. 4) The best
voice cast we have ever had.

Patrick
Warburton (Sheriff Stone) etc. 5) Better villains and stories as well as
production and design. 6) An actual Arc Story. Yes, we finally have a mystery
that connects everything. 7) Self-awareness. This version knows it is silly at
times and points that out. A good example in Episode 1 Fred says that it is time
to solve a mystery but then goes on to say that it is certainly more important
than going to school. Something almost never addressed in the earlier versions.
This one is a fantastic introduction to the new series and the villain is just a blast. I am so excited about this series I can hardly put it into words, but as a fan, this looks like the beginnings of a great ride.
The plot here involves a slime mutant terrorizing anyone he sees but there is a lot of great stuff, as mentioned above loaded in this one.
