TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT (2017)
Tagline: For One World to Live, The Other Must Die.
(Action, SciFi, What The Heck) [PG-13]
For seemingly no reason Optimus is freaking floating around in outer space
and ultimately ends up meeting Quintessa (voiced by Gemma Chan from HUMANS,
CAPTAIN MARVEL etc.). Granted, Optimus does take off into space at the end of AGE OF EXTINCTION, but him just getting lost in space and floating around seems idiotic. She basically brainwashes Prime into becoming Nemesis
Prime and well, he is pretty much hell bent on getting this staff from earth, that for some damn reason the story line decided was important to tie back to
the Knights of The Round Table. Think this is crazy. Well not really. Not even
close if you watched the 80’s Transformers cartoon which once had Starscream
taking over Camelot. Heck, one time Powerglide married a human woman. Anyway for some reason a random Transformer knight for
some reason hiding out in Chicago gives Cade Yeagar a talisman that grants him
what equates to a sword that for some reason crawls all over his body. No, I am
not kidding. Meanwhile as if Optimus going crazy isn’t enough Michael Bay
decided that Unicron is either earth or has just been playing hide and seek for
centuries. Quintessa wants Unicron dead, so if you are aware of who Unicron was
in the TRANSFORMERS animated movie, it gets a bit confusing as to who we are
rooting for here.
Maybe the next installment after they backtrack to BUMBLEBEE will give us some answers. Anyway we get a lot of Anthony Hopkins in this, which turns out to be an almost wasted role and probably a way to get a really cool 12 Knight, Transforming Combiner 3-headed dragon in this movie.

What is strong about this movie is that freakin dragon
(Dragonstorm), the new and improved Megatron (voiced by Frank Welker who has
voiced Megatron in the past, but is probably more famous as the voice of Fred
Jones and Scooby-Doo from Scooby-Doo
everything.). Optimus is awesome when he is Optimus and the appearance of
Infernicus is pretty freaking amazing.
What’s weak about this movie is pretty much all these new
crappy Decepticons that Megatron calls his posse and the storyline. I could
have dealt with some of the plot elements but trying to piece together this
freakin movie is like trying to make a puzzle with 15 missing pieces. We also
get a submarine Transformer in this movie that never ends up transforming among other issues.
Overall the second watch of this movie was a LOT better than
the first watch. Isabela Moner does a decent job as Izabella but by the 3rd
act feels almost out of place. Unfortunately aside from the stellar effects the
distracting storyline is almost impossible to overcome. I also have no idea how
after the last one, Autobots are still outlawed when this one starts. As a fan of the series, I hope someone starts taking a harder look at the script moving forward.
