KIM POSSIBLE : SEASON 1 EPISODE 11 – COACH POSSIBLE (2002)

KIM POSSIBLE : SEASON 1 EPISODE 11 – COACH POSSIBLE (2002)

In this one Kim takes over coaching her younger brother’s soccer team for a bit exposing her hyper competitiveness, and full blown control freak side. Ron describes it as “competitive Kimness”. Meanwhile Senior Senior Jr comes up with a not so evil scheme that involves stealing an animatronic band (basically the pizza place equivalent of the Country Bear Jamboree) from JP Bearymore’s Pizza Party-Torium. No, I am totally not kidding.

I like several things about this episode, but one of them is how “fair” Senior Senior Sr is trying to be when he actually tells Senior Senior Jr that they need to give Kim and Ron a chance, by giving them time to shimmy up a rope to stop them from getting away.

We also find out that Senior Senior Jr isn’t all that evil by the time his plan gets executed. Senior Senior Sr. however actually did come up with a pretty sinister plan in this one as goofy as it is executed. This episode literally features disco ball mind control and an animatronic bear with laser eyes.

The writing in this episode is significantly better than some of the previous episodes (outside of one issue I will mention later) and has quite a bit more humor than other efforts. The animation is good and they don’t skimp on the backgrounds in a ton of frames like usual. The music and direction in the action sequences are also very well done.

Best Line – “Somewhere there is a landfill full of un-opened hot sauce, and someday I’m going to find it” – Ron Stoppable.  Referencing the fact that Bueno Nacho gives you like 20 hot sauces for a single burrito. Most of which you will never end up using.

Second Best Line – “I did not mean to say “Hmmm”, it is your evil disco, not mine.” – Senior Senior Sr.

Third Best Line = “Kim, it’s the most sophisticated computer system I’ve ever seen!” – Wade Load
“It’s a banjo playing bear!” – Kim Possible

Overall – I am still not crazy about Senior Senior Sr. and Senior Senior Sr as villains, this one was pretty great. Except for the writers making  Kim pretty much learning nothing, and not moving forward as a character. I give it a 5 out of 7.
