KIM POSSIBLE : SEASON 1 EPISODE 6 – BUENO NACHO (2002)

In this one Dr. Drakken  and Shego decide it’s a great idea to build a giant drill inside a giant wheel of cheese in Wisconsin. The idea is to drill into the earth’s core thereby getting enough magma to melt Wisconsin and rename it “Drakkenville”. Yeah, you freakin read that right. This series is loaded with hair-brained schemes but oh, man. This one is fantastically nuts.

Kim decides to get her and Ron, a job at Bueno Nacho to Ron’s surprise. He thrives in the situation and actually invents a new menu item called the “Naco”. It’s like a taco with nachos inside. Kim gets jealous and the end up in a fight. I think it’s the fist fight of the season for them. The dialog and banter between Shego and Drakken is pretty great and I love the stereotypical accent of the tour guide in Wisconsin. Having just been to Minnesota I think the almost Canadian accent is one of the great things about that area. Animation wise this episode is pretty well done with very few frames not reaching the style standard set in the series itself.

Oddity – There is a part in the beginning where Kim is getting a ride to Wisconsin and the pilot flying her says she saved his crop-dusting business. She says it’s no big because going “organic”, was a no brainer.  I am pretty sure you don’t need a crop duster for organic farming. If someone out there knows different I would be interested in hearing how they would apply here.

Best Line - “Rufus, this is a precision instrument, extremely complex, better mess with everything.” – Ron Stoppable

I give this episode a 6 out of 7. I like that we got to see more of the thoughtful interaction between Kim and Ron than we have so far this season. To this point this episode has the best action sequences and pacing. Just enough witty banter and just enough emotion.
