KIM POSSIBLE : SEASON 1 EPISODE 4 – TICK-TICK-TICK (2002)

This episode acts as an introduction to Shego and Drakken. That is really weird because they both were introduced in Episode 1. I am guessing that episode just served as a concept pilot. I have no freakin idea. Anyway, Shego and Dr. Drakken trying to develop a cybernetic tick that has the ability to explode. Dr. Drakken not only has a lair, he’s got a full blown shark tank. The banter between Shego and Dr. Drakken is just incredible. I love the way these 2 interact.

Overall the story-line is pretty fun and we do get to see some of Shego’s powers action. It also includes Mr. Barkin taking the entire group of kids that are in detention to go find Kim, because no one is allowed to escape his school detention. There is a shot with a guy named Big Mike in the car, but you can’t see the top half of his head. Meaning there was likely an oversight in production, because technically if you are going to cram him into Mr. Barkin’s car, you don’t cut off most of his head just to get him into the scene.

This series establishes pretty quickly that Shego is the perfect counter to Kim Possible’s prowess and physical ability. Tick-Tick-Tick is what solidified me wanting to watch this entire series, establishing that we were not only getting cool fun animation, but at least two ongoing villains that don’t just fade away and developing story-lines.

Cool – The sign at Ron and Kim’s school says “Mutant Vermin On Campus”. This series is loaded with little subtleties like this.

Best Line – “Because nano sounds about a 100 times better, that’s why!” – Dr. Drakken.

I give this episode a 7 out of 7 and kind of wish it had been episode 1, because it does everything better than what we got for episode 1.
