CAPTAIN AMERICA : CIVIL WAR (2016)
In this one basically the government wants to get a heads up
on all Avengers activities and approve or disapprove what they do. Almost
immediately Tony Stark and Captain America are at each other’s throats because
Cap doesn’t want to turn in his friend the “Winter Soldier”, Bucky, who is now
just trying to stay low. He is wanted for one of the simpler things in life, like killing a bajillion people in the last Captain America movie. The fight between Tony Stark who wants to be governed
by the government suddenly, after years of saying he didn’t (yeah it doesn’t
make any damn sense) and Captain America who was all about doing the right
thing, is now suddenly all about doing the wrong thing, and beating up pretty
much everyone that is chasing him. Including his other friends who mean less to
him that Bucky. One by one the rest of the Avengers start picking sides and it ends up being a stand off at the "this is stupid coral". It’s all just very weird and very sloppy.
I really can’t stand this damn thing and in spite of the fact that we get an all-star cast and even Spider-Man shows up. This movie is just void of being interesting at all. They half-heartedly try to cram a villain (Zemo, played by Daniel Bruhl) in this one, but even that is pointless. This story line is just so bad and completely un-necessary, that I sat on this review for 4 years. I just didn’t even want to write it. I will say that the airport scene fight is just okay but the rest of this thing just stinks out-loud. It’s also one of my least favorite story lines ever in the comics, but it’s made 10 times worst in this movie. Even Thor is just done with this whole situation.
Okay, that is all I have for this piece of crap. It’s really too bad that they used this film to introduce one of the MCU’s coolest characters ever “Black Panther” as well. As a Marvel guy, I hate to dislike a movie in the series as much as I do this one. Captain America : Civil War gets a 2 out of 7, for its blatant lack of just having at least 1 adult in the room for its entire running time, which unfortunately clocks in at almost 2 and a half hours. It’s like babysitting only you are not getting paid. Here we are, beating the crap out of each other, like a bunch of idiots.
