SEASON 1 EPISODE 11 – THE SECRET SERUM

There's a vampire terrorizing Crystal Cove, stealing random seemingly unrelated items. When the gang decides to split up and investigate, they start to think that Daphne’s mom has got it goin on….

There are few things as much of a tribute to the early years of Scooby-Doo as a good old-fashioned vampire hunt. However, this episode also contains some not-so-conventional approaches to Scooby-Doo, like getting random assistance from a non-celebrity and having the group start a mystery deciding to split up due to a dispute in the group. Typically they wait to do that until well after the investigation is underway. Most of this is based on Velma and Shaggy not being willing to hang out together because they essentially broke up.

This episode has a lot more going for it than some of the previous episodes and ends up being very entertaining. This episode is one of my favorites of the season. The writing and actual mystery are quite a bit better than most of the season's storylines. The only downside of this entire episode is the closing scene, but mostly because it’s foreshadowing things to come.

The Cool – The gang visits “The Spook Museum” curated by Velma’s mom.

Best Line – “Mom, your vampiring is tearing this family apart” – Daphne.

Second Best Line – “Oh, I don’t think so ghoul friend” – Velma.

Some reviewers gave this thing a low rating. I thought it was one of the best episodes of the season thus far.
