STRANGER THINGS : THE MIND FLAYER (2017)
If you have not done so, watch Season 1 before reading this to avoid spoilers. This season takes place in Hawkins, Indiana in 1984. Will has been rescued after his vanishing a year earlier but is starting to see visions of the Upside Down. Meanwhile the rest of the town is facing a curious rot happening to farms in the area. Just what exactly in the name of “demogorgons are coming after us” is going on now? Playtime is over for Hawkins Lab.
In this episode Hawkins Lab is under full blown attack by demogorgons and Steve, Max, Lucas and Dustin have decided to track the demogorgons while debating the rule of law, that you don’t lie. Now we also have Nancy and Jonathon back in the mix, looking for Mike and Will. So yeah, that’s pretty much everyone we care about right in the mix of this thing. We also find out that Bob is fearless and good at the computer language BASIC but isn’t good with a gun. He also founded the Hawkins Middle School AV Club.
One thing I kinda thought about during this episode is that the demogorgons in Season 1 are not dog like, but more human like, the ones we see in season 2 are basically dogs with flower faces that have teeth. Dustin refers to them as demi-dogs in the episode. We also find out that Hopper does not give a crap about anything in the shed in back of the Myers house. Joyce has her crap together when it counts and Lucas doesn’t pick up on “electricity”. Also, Mike will jack you up with a gold cup.
Be warned, this episode carries with it a lot of emotional weight. Fortunately it’s also loaded with action and laughs solidifying its place as one of the best episodes in either of the 2 seasons of Stranger Things.
