INHUMANWICH! (2016)

INHUMANWICH! (2016)

This is one of those movies that is purposely trying to take us back to the 50’s and 60’s creature feature flicks. Some of these efforts are superior to others. This is one that stands out as being pretty damn great.  The plot revolves around a space accident that leads to a man being exposed to atomic sandwich DNA. I think radiation is somehow involved. It’s just freakin nuts. By the time he ends up back on earth, the world now has to deal with a creature bent on eating pretty much everything. Oh, on top of that, it’s basically a giant pile of meat by the time it’s all done and said. The entire movie celebrates the genre by being shot completely in black and white.

This thing is basically a horror comedy the same way TEENAGERS FROM OUTER SPACE is. It’s basically so purposely hooky that it’s hard not to laugh at even if they tried doing a straight up old school horror flick. This thing is loaded with crazy humor and some purposely horrific acting. It literally includes a dude that gets both legs eaten off to the bone and he still manages to hang out for most of the movie, to try and figure out a way to kill the creature. The outstanding failure to pay any attention to detail or basic physics is just over the top great. I get it, I get it. Most complaints about sci-fi or sci-fantasy like STAR WARS, have to do with the films being scientifically incorrect. We are suddenly supposed to be so with it that we can no longer enjoy total craziness. To be honest I could give a crap about that watching anything sci-fi and even less so bonkers films like this.

I really can’t say much here about the acting or cinematography or camera work, because none of that is something that would have improved this movie anyway. It actually would have taken away from the cheese factor the film was going for. What is great is the script, overall nonsense and over the top ending.  Matt Laumann’s performance stands out in this as Ed Farley, but he is more well known for his voice-over work in things like Borderlands video game.
