INCREDIBLES 2 (2018)
The Incredible family (a.k.a. the Parr
family) picks up where they left off after the first movie (which is freakin
great, because I wanted to see them take on the Underminer). Only now, being a hero
still sucks because it’s illegal. These rich kids (the Deavor siblings) of
Devtech decide they want to fix the worlds opinions of superhero’s for the
better, so Elastagirl is chosen to usher in a new more forgiving age. I am not
going to tell you how that pans out but Mr. Incredible needs to step it up
because he’s in charge of the kids by himself now…bloody hell.
The villain in this movie (Screenslaver)
uses some POLTERGEIST like TV noise to take over the minds of anyone they want
to. Come to think of it "Screenslaver" is probably the coolest villain name in animation aside from Scarlet Overkill (MINIONS). The result is some pretty cool and interesting ideas on what heroes and
those who love them shouldn’t and shouldn’t be doing with their lives. Overall
the plot for this one feels a little less inventive that the first movie in the
series, but there is nothing dissatisfying to point out here. The movie is fun,
well-paced, and definitely shows how much computer animation has improved in
over 14 years. There is a warning for those with Epilepsy going into this movie
and for good reason. I think maybe eventually we get a version that doesn’t
have the POLTERGEIST (flashy) monitors but this part of the production is a
bummer for some and probably should have been considered before choosing this
method of brain control.
INCREDIBLES has a well-deserved following
and this movie is a nice follow up that anyone not sensitive to flashing lights
should at least check out on Netflix. Jack Jack (the baby) in this one is
awesome and has an epic stand-off with a raccoon. Frozone and Edna are pretty freaking great as well. As
good as it is, you and your kids (or maybe just you) don’t need to run out and
catch this in the theater (sorry Pixar). It will be just as good streamed or on
DVD or BLU RAY. I give this one a 5 out of 7.
