ZOMBIE HUNTER (2013)
Oh boy, where to start
with this thing. First off almost this entire movie runs more like an attempt
at comedy/horror than it does anything else. What we wind up with is a rip off
of just about every zombie movie you can think off and that includes RESIDENT
EVIL. The acting is pretty horrid even though B-Movie and Grindhouse mainstay
Danny Trejo is actually taking his role seriously. The movies leading lady,
Alison played by B-movie queen Clare Niederpruem (also in THE MAZE, ORCS and
VAMP U among others) is commendable and if Martin Copping was told to play a
total jerk we don’t really like, he succeeded as Hunter. The rest of the cast
is so bad it makes you wonder if they were quite literally just picking up
people off the street and giving them money to be in this.
Overall this is your
standard end of the world because of some drug turning everyone into zombies
storyline, but if you can put aside everything you know for an hour and a half,
ZOMBIE HUNTER is fairly enjoyable (not as decent as BOUNTY HUNTER). I use the
term enjoyable loosely here. If you are not a fan of this type of stuff I’d
skip it and stick with high budget better acted attempts at this genre.
ZOMBIE HUNTER ends in
such a way that if it does well in DVD sales we just might end up with an ill
advised part 2 however that is unlikely as some people have already labeled
this the “WORST ZOMBIE MOVIE EVER”. They however would be way off. It’s not
even in the bottom 15. I can tell you that with confidence. I have watched a
TON of zombie movies. The rating might be a little high, but when it comes to
B-movies this one does not deserve worse. I knew what was going on when I saw
the cover.
