THE GALLOWWALKERS (2012)
Well it was 2012 and we
had a Wesley Snipes sighting. In this western zombie flick a gunman is cursed
and now everyone that he kills comes back to life as a skinless zombie. They
then have to go get some really bad masks and put them on in such a way that it
looks like someone just cut the tops of their heads. This thing could have been
a whole lot better instead we get what is probably the most jacked out horror
flick I am reviewing this season (at least so far). I like zombie flicks, I
like westerns and I like Wesley Snipes. None of this sadly was enough to save
this film. Not even Snipes seemed to really be trying but the acting wasn’t the
only problem.
The storyline is disjointed like someone put it together with
refrigerator magnets that have words on them. It does seem like some of this
movie was borrowed from other ideas like the comic JONAH HEX, but mostly this
is just a boring dialog driven disaster with no real point or character
development. I am not even sure why some of these actors showed up in the first
place. GALLOWWALKERS is a cinematic lesson in how to take a decent idea and
make it look like a high school film project. Not to beat a zombie horse but
another major issue with this movie is the lighting. Almost everything happens
in the day time. When I was younger I kind disliked how all the cool stuff was
hidden in the dark and had bad lighting. Now however we are over a decade into
the 2000’s and there is no excuse for not getting a decent budget and making
your humorless horror flick a little more atmospheric.
Don’t say I didn’t warn
you. This thing gets a …..
