RED WATER (2003)
This one is about a bull
shark (that looks a LOT like a great white) that starts just killing everyone
it can find in a Louisana river. If you know much about bull sharks, the fact
that this one was in fresh water is not shocking they are actually the MOST
likely to attack you in a river. Anyway there is a bit of a subplot here where
a standard bad guy wants money that was thrown into the same river and now
Coolio has to help him get it. Meanwhile John Sanders (Lou Diamand Phillips)
and Dr. Kelli Raymond (Kristy Swanson – BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, DUDE WHERE’S
MY CAR, BIG DADDY) were married but got a divorce and now have to work together
on a project involving the EPA.
The most likable
character in this movie is Emery (played by Rob Boltin – BONES, MENTAL) so I
found myself rooting him on even as the sidekick. I am also a huge fan of
Kristy Swanson’s so it was nice seeing her in this flick (oddly not her only
shark movie, she was also in SWAMP SHARK). There is also some pretty funny
dialog is you listen closely.
You can catch this on
NetFlix right now but I am not sure on the DVD availability since it was
originally a TV movie much like SHARKNADO etc. In spite of some of the bad
reviews this is actually probably in my top 10 of my “so bad it’s good shark
movies” even though it’s obvious some of the ideas are ripped from other
movies.
