HOWLING II: YOUR SISTER IS A WEREWOLF (1985)

Oh man…this freakin movie. What to say, what to say. The
minor continuation in the storyline that Karen (the main character in THE HOWLING is in fact a werewolf) doesn’t help this disaster of a movie with its
sense of being an actual part 2 or help any kind of continuity whatsoever.
The main idea is that someone needs to kill the immortal queen of all the werewolves or we are screwed. I will say this thing starts off fantastic. As freakin horrible as this movie was it does have the distinction of featuring probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite horror movie song ever “The Howling” by BABEL.

Outside of that, most people put this movie solidly in the “worst
movie ever”, “funny” or “boring” category. Seriously, this is a lot of talking
in the dark in this thing. Most of the lighting resembles the first movie and
the effects are okay but who green-lit this ridiculous screenplay…man…just
man. I wish I had something good to say about this. I guess some people just
really into Sybil Danning would like it because she pretty much gets all the
attention even during the credits (which also features bizarre repetition). Oh, wait. I just thought of something
good. Christopher Lee (LORD OF THE RINGS, STAR WARS EPISODE II, etc.) is in this.
So there it is. After this came out my first thought was “Maybe part 3 will repair some of the damage”. Unfortunately, HOWLING III doesn’t do that --- we don’t get a restoration of the series until HOWLING IV, but after that, it does south again for a bit. This is probably being kind but I will give this a 1. If it wasn’t for the great opening it would have been a solid 0.
