DEVIL’S PASS (2013)

Also known as "The Dyatlov Pass Incident" is based on a true story being investigated by a new group of ridiculously curious filmmakers one of which can’t help but drag her crew to their bitter demise. The movie itself, however, involves a collection of interesting and often confusing elements from director Renny Harlin who has actually directed a few of my favorite movies DEEP BLUE SEA and DIE HARD 2 as well as CLIFFHANGER. Most of this movie is shot well, but there are a lot of “my camera is broken” moments and that actually take away from the experience rather than adding to it.

Much like some of the other films I have covered this season, DEVIL’S PASS is really well-acted and has you not only believing this is really happening to the actors, but that some of them are a lot like your annoying stubborn friends from high school.

This movie also has some pretty interesting and genuine chills but the plot gets so out of hand you will miss what is going on unless you really follow closely. For a really different horror experience, this one isn’t over gory but it is pretty hard to forget. Even creepier is the fact that no one really knows what happened to the people involved in the original incident the movie is following up on. This is a pretty decent selection for your horror-o-thon.
