ABANDONED MINE (2013)

ABANDONED MINE (2013)

If you know me, you know I will watch just about anything Alexa Vega shows up in and this was no exception (this is the case with a lot of actors and actresses that are openly Christian).

This one starts out with 5 friends who decide the coolest thing to do is head over to a supposedly haunted mine to spend the night on Halloween. It doesn’t take long before the group gets lost, stuck, injured, and generally starts freaking the freak-out. I don’t want to give too much away here, but just about nothing is what it seems here and there are moments where the twist is twisted.

Alexa isn’t the featured actress in this one but does have a pretty significant role. Instead, the lead is played by Saige Thompson who’s done a lot of TV work and it shows (in good way). Unfortunately, that is about all we can really draw out of this one as it spirals into a somewhat interesting but lackluster debut horror effort by director Jeff Chamberlain (probably better known for his role as Mr. Woodward in PUMP UP THE VOLUME).

I can’t recommend this one highly unless you are just really a fan of either actress in the movie because the guys are all pretty much people we don’t care about and don’t like. The plot is okay but extremely simple with just about zero depth. One thing I did like about this is the fact that the end leaves you wondering what the heck just happened and that it doesn’t rely on a ton of gore to keep the pace. It also makes it a bit of a decent choice for teen audiences.

I give this movie a 3 out of 7.
