THE FRANKENSTEIN THEORY (2013) : 31 DAYS OF MADNESS...

THE FRANKENSTEIN THEORY (2013)

“This is not going to end well…” – Annie

In this one, a film crew is investigating the theorist behind a new FRANKENSTEIN myth. Essentially this guy is saying it’s all real. He believes it so much that he is paying for everyone to travel to where the FRANKENSTEIN monster was last seen. Unfortunately, the only eye witness is like a cracked-out loner in Canada. Overall this film has a very BLAIR WITCH feel to it but just feels like it isn’t getting anywhere. So unfortunately for this one, Annie is right, it is not going to end well, it is also not going to start well.

This movie does have a pretty cool premise and they go to some good lengths to get us a layered background that if you listen is pretty freakin interesting. I do have problems with movies that make me wait like an hour just to see the setup. Great films always drop a few “holy cow” moments in the first 10 to 15 minutes if not sooner. This one just drags and drags and drags.

The “even worse”. This movie almost completely rides on Heather Stephens (as Vicky), because other than that, the script is basically struggling to save itself from terrifically un-inspired acting. I have hung out with all different kinds of people in all different kinds of situations. I don’t recall them dropping f-bombs every 5 seconds. This isn’t quite CASINO, but the lack of creatively voicing your opinion has seemingly gone out the window here. Just remember, just because a skinny dude on crack can get away from whatever is out there, doesn’t mean you can.

I really wanted to like this film but even the payoff just isn’t worth your time. This one gets a 1 out of 7.
