So if you like GRINDHOUSE flicks, PLANET TERROR is probably the best thing since sliced bread. In this one a chemical that is supposed to be used as a weapon winds up infecting an entire town and a military installation nearby. As the humans in the film are picked off 1 by 1 (and sometimes like 20 or 30 by 20 or 30) we get introduced to some pretty amazing characters with extremely diverse backgrounds. No, these zombies don’t talk unless they are needed for a few lines to make their point, and you can kill them by shooting them in the head.

Unlike most zombie movies this thing is so over the top in many parts it’s just flat out offensive and doesn’t make any sense even for a “we are all freaking getting eaten” movie. I am not a big of Tarantino's because I have met him once and he’s a complete jerk. However even though he didn’t direct this he steps into the role of one of the soldiers and gets involved in the 2^nd most “wow, this is stupid” moments of the movie. (it’s an attempted rape scene if you are wondering). The first stupidest moment of this movie is when the mom gives her son a gun. While her statement to him at the time was a bit of comical relieve, the next scene not only wasn’t comical, it was sadistic crap. I am a big fan of most of Rodriguez’s stuff, but if you read my RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD review, you know I don’t believe he ever quite got there regarding the level that film reached.

Epic things about this movie. Josh Brolin is amazing in this as completely crazy and jacked out his role is. Rose McGowan is at her best in this and I can say that having seen almost 4 episodes of CHARMED. Freddy Rodriguez stands out and we probably get the best performance of the entire movie from Marley Shelton (SIN CITY, A PERFECT GETAWAY). It’s basically amazing.

Low points I’ve already addressed. 

Overall I have to give this a 4 out of 7. It’s probably a 5 without a few just completely un-necessary scenes.
