KING OF THE LOST WORLD (2005)
Sometimes the story that
inspired something is decided worse than what it inspired. I say sometimes
because the instance is rare, but the book this movie was based on inspired
KING KONG. In fact you can probably argue that this was the original KONG story.
In any regards we have an Island and we have a huge ape. So that is pretty much
all you need to know (okay I am kidding that would be too short a review). You
should also know that Sarah Lieving is
also in this but even she can’t save the movie.
We
do get to see some really crazy stuff you’d expect on an island with a giant
ape, but oddly no other giant apes. Much like KING KONG he appears pretty much
on his own with well flying dragon like creatures and stuff that are seemingly
only on screen for about 4 minutes. They did include this fun credit though "No giant apes or dragons were harmed
during the production of this screenplay. Maybe some giant scorpions got mad,
but that's about it".
The big ape finders on
this trip don’t stupidly try to take the ape back to the US. You think that
little tid-bit would have caught the makers of KING KONG’s eye? Much like a lot
of garbage THE ASYLUM puts out this thing is unfortunately hardly watchable,
even if you are trying to not think and trying to not look at the special
effects being worse than almost anything you can do with minimal Photoshop and
a little imagination.
Skip this
spectacularly horrific movie so many better things you can do with 80 minutes.
Yeah, that’s right, it’s shorter than most Disney animated flicks ( I say that
because most of them are barely over 90 minutes).
I
give this movie a 2 out of 7. Rating Definition : 2 out of 7 – EHH, this
movie was not good and you know it. You kind of wish you hadn’t paid to see it
or allowed that chick in the deli to talk you into taking her. Once the bad
taste in your mouth is washed out, you won’t think this is the worst movie
ever, but you will think it was close.
