FAST & THE FURIOUS 6 (2013)

FAST & THE FURIOUS 6  (2013)

Having not seen ANY of the first 5 installments, I was more looking forward to just a night out than anything else. What I got was an intensely entertaining trip to London among other places. While I will admit you can drive a truck through some of the plot holes and apparently a car through the front of a jumbo jet, this film is nothing short of non-stop adrenaline. Let me also preface the review by saying I can’t stand Vin Diesel and I know almost nothing about cars (except they drive places, you put gas in them, stuff like that).

The film starts out with a rogue set of drivers overtaking a military convoy to steal a piece of technology as one part of several they need to make a super weapon to sell to the highest bidder. Hobbs enlists Dom and Brian to reassemble their crew to take these guys down. [ Caution : Mild Spoiler you probably picked up from the previews ahead ] Although they all seek pardons, the main drive behind Dom’s involvement is to recover Letty who everyone thought was dead.
For casual fans, this film is not without its plethora of stars, and for me, Ludacris, Gina Carano, and Michelle Rodriguez (even though she has Hawkeye syndrome most of the movie) are worth the price of admission. This is definitely a movie you want to catch while it’s at the theaters. From a strictly entertainment point of view, this movie puts forth a superb effort.

From a script standpoint, I thought the secondary bad guy characters were poorly written, but the main bad guy Shaw played by Luke Evans is about as on the money as it gets. We want to see him taken down. Not going to give any spoilers away here but the results of the ending, are not only satisfying they brazenly daring and realistic. Much love for this film, now I am probably going to have to watch the rest.

This film gets a solid 6 out 7. Just pure fun all around.
