Somehow in 1998 I missed some things that were pretty epic. THE FACULTY was one of them. Gearing up for the turn of the century Hollywood actually came up with a few gems. The premise is MARS ATTACKS vs INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS heavy but at least the movie knows it and embraces it. 

In this one Frodo takes on a group of teachers that are infecting the students with a weird leech like alien that relies on water to live. Embedding stars like Famke Janssen (X-MEN, HANSEL & GRETEL WHICH HUNTERS), Jordana Brewster (FAST & FURIOUS +), Josh Hartnett (30 DAYS OF NIGHT, PEARL HARBOR), Usher (SHE’S ALL THAT, I guess he sings stuff too :P), Salma Hayek (everything) and on and on, show this movie put up the money to get the face people wanted.

I can’t say THE FACULTY is a cult classic but I can say for me it falls into the SCOTT PILGRIM VS THEWORLD, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA variety of unique films that I’d watch 100 times. For it’s time the effects are top notch and we get enough wit and solid writing to enjoy a lot more than this film shows on screen.

This is also another movie worth watching for the soundtrack alone which includes Alice Cooper, Garbage and The Offspring. This isn’t for really squeamish people and the ending does have a bit of nudity but for the storyline and the script's circumstance it oddly makes a lot of sense.

I give this movie a solid 6 out of 7.
