BLOOD WIDOW (2014)
This movie revolves
around a couple named Laurie and Hugh that moves into a new home. Hugh decides
he is going to piss off Laurie as fast as possible because he is a jerk and
decides to throw a drug filled party at the house before they are even unpacked.
Some of their friends wander over to a neighboring boarding house where a girl
that massacred a bunch of people there seemingly just wants to be left alone
(well it’s pretty obvious because she kills everybody that even looks like they
might show up at the boarding house). First off if you have never seen an 80’s
slasher horror flick you are probably going to miss some of the cooler things
about this film and end up hating it. Secondly this is not “your gross people
out and make them leave the theater” type film.
Clearly the Blood Widow is
jacked up – but she doesn’t waste a lot of time torturing this batch of college
students. The acting is poor and mostly un-inspired and the script is just
crying for help, but the concept sets up nicely for future installments and
this feels a lot more like a set up than a standalone entry (at least let’s
hope so because we are given almost no reason why the Blood Widow is so pissed
at people that had nothing to do with her prior). This movie does have a few
things going for it, we don’t get a look at the real face of the villain so it
really doesn’t matter who plays her if they do a part. Also she does no
talking….kind of like Jason (FRIDAY THE 13TH ) and Victor (HATCHET).
Rating this film alone I have to give it just a 4…nothing spectacular but
nothing as bad looking as the previews right before it from the same studio.
