HALO 4 : FORWARD UNTO DAWN (2012)
So back in 2012 (yes an entire year ago) Halo lovers
rejoiced at the release of this web series driven FORWARD UNTO DAWN series that
was eventually crunched into a 97 minute movie that isn’t half bad. While the
storyline focuses mostly on the training and relationships of UNSC Cadets,
there is plenty of action in the second half of the film mostly worth the wait.
The SPARTAN II super soldiers are very cool but they are in for a fight which
makes this a very interesting introduction to the HALO world. If aliens ever
invade the earth (like in one of my dreams or something) I want either the
SPARTAN II super soldiers to be in charge of protecting the earth (or) Dr. Who
(or) maybe better yet River from FIREFLY (but that’s another story).
Don’t get me wrong, for anyone not into HALO this is not going to be mind blowing, having said that there are several things that were done right here. The casting is stellar including now actress Anna Popplewell (CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, BRAVE NEW WORLD) who should be getting calls from everyone in Hollywood (like right now) and new comer Tom Green (he is not in anything you have heard of).

The quality on this just isn’t all that great when it comes
to the indoor sequences. I will say the outdoor shots and anything going on
outside is pretty well done. Apparently there have been rumors of an actual
movie coming out sometime but for now this should tide over those clamoring for
a movie to back up what has become one of the most popular games in the world.
I give this movie a 4 out of 7. REALLY GOOD – This movie
was better than expected after critics killed it. It does have that “I think I
may have seen this before feeling” but you haven’t, it’s all in your head. This
movie was likely redeemed by some amazing actor or actress like Hugh Jackman or
Kate Beckinsale.
